A satisfying end to a wildly audacious series – I’ll never see religious paintings with angels again without thinking of this book (and finding the angels to be slightly nefarious).
Especially happy with the way things turned out for a certain horned chimera.
Right up there with Pullman for me in creatively wreaking havoc with religious imagery & coming up with a series that is completely original. I’d recommend reading His Dark Materials and the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy back to back for a lively book club discussion (and some epic cosplay with the latter).
